What is Body Neutrality?

Hi, it's Victoria here from BAM POW LIFE. In this video, I want to talk about body neutrality.

So, you may be striving to love yourself, love your body, and look in the mirror and think, "Oh my God, I am a fucking queen," and that might not be happening for you, and I want to talk about how that's okay. It's okay not to be looking at your body every single day and thinking that you are fucking glorious, because sometimes you just don't feel like that. And to aspire to that, every single day feeling like that, is unrealistic, and even the most confident, powerful, body-loving warriors out there aren't like that. Because a lot of times, when you feel confident about your body, you just don't think about it, and you think about how it serves you in regards to it lets you move around in the world, it lets you smell the flowers, it lets you feel the rain in your skin. You know, it lets you run into the arms of your loved one, all that type of stuff.

And so, in the body love journey, if you're struggling, just try and reach for body neutrality. Body neutrality is thinking about your body and thinking, "Yeah, meh, whatever, not a big deal," or not thinking about your body, instead of "Oh my God, it's disgusting," or "Oh my God, I'm a queen." And some days, you will feel like "Oh my God, I'm a queen, mm, look at that ass, ooh, look at those titties," whatever you have, and other days you're going to be like ... have these thoughts coming into your mind of "Mm, no, I don't like that." So just notice the thoughts that are coming up, and if you are struggling to strive for body love and adoration, strive for body neutrality, because that is a wonderful place to be, and it's probably a million times better than a lot of people in the world who really despise and hate their bodies. And so, if you can get to neutrality, that is incredible, girl.

How Dieting Keeps Us Small

Hi. It's Victoria here from BAM POW LIFE, and in this video we're talking about how dieting keeps us small.

Before we dive into this video, I want to make sure that you know about my Extreme Confidence Makeover free e-course. It's 10 days. It's incredible. You can find the link below, so sign up.

There's a quote that I love by Naomi Wolf and she is the author of The Beauty Myth. The quote is, "Dieting is the most potent form of political sedative in history. A quietly mad population is a tractable one." And so, that quote is so powerful for me because it helps me to not diet. Because it reminds me about where my mind was when I was dieting.

So think about when we're dieting. We're consumed with the act of dieting, the act of what we're going to eat, what we're not going to eat, how much we're going to exercise, how many calories have we burned, how many steps have we taken. And our mind is just wasting all of this mental energy on this shit that doesn't matter.

And so, how much mental energy do you think that we have to do important stuff? To rise up. To live the life that we actually want to live. To focus on the things that are important to us. Hardly any energy is left. Dieting makes us so tired. And so that quote is saying, dieting keeps you small. And the ironic thing is it keeps you small in the way that you participate in the world and it doesn't actually keep your body small. Because as we know, diets don't work. Actually dieting makes you bigger. And so it keeps you small in regards to focusing on something that doesn't matter, that's not important in the world and in your life.

I want you to take this quote and internalize it. And anytime you're thinking, maybe I should diet, think about the things you actually want in life. Why are you thinking that you want to diet? Can you get those things in other ways that's not dieting? What's actually important to you? Why not pursue those things? I don't know, it could be spending time with family, it could be watching shit on Netflix, it could be taking over the world. But you can do it. If you're not dieting.
